Comedy Central to light up Diwali with four new shows

This year, celebrate Diwali in Comedy Central style, with fireworks of laughter! Comedy Central, the 24-hours English entertainment channel has announced the launch of four exciting new shows – Billy on The Street, Psych (seasons 1-4), Penn & Teller: Fool Us & The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Psych
Psych, a comedy-drama series, focuses on Shawn Spencer (James Roday), a police consultant who pretends to be psychic, and his assistant Burton "Gus" Guster, a pharmaceuticals salesman. The premiere episode was watched by approximately 6.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated scripted series premiere for a cable network in the US.

Penn and Teller: Fool Us
The latest addition to the Comedy Central lineup is actually a British Import by the name of Penn and Teller: Fool Us. While it may be hitting our shores for the very first time, the show is no newbie to television screens where renowned entertainers Penn and Teller invite aspiring magicians to perform their best trick with an intent to "fool them". If they succeed, the magician wins a ticket to Las Vegas and gets to open for Penn and Teller live at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon
Comedy Central will continue to tickle your funny bone with the premiere of Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the international debut of which garnered a viewership of 11.31 million viewers. The premier episode will be a real visual flourish with a rooftop performance by U2 in an interesting way while taking advantage of the Manhattan skyline. Known to get celebrities to do unthinkable things on camera – like the egg roulette with Tom Cruise Jimmy Fallon is certain the king of talk shows & late night television!

Billy on the Street
Introducing India to comedy’s next big thing; Emmy winner Billy Eichner with his show Billy on the Street, an ambush-style game show in which Eichner runs—literally—through the streets of New York City, harasses unsuspecting pedestrians asking innocuous pop-culture questions before sprinting away as quickly as he arrived.  What makes this show hilarious is Billy’s crazy approach that has people completely confused.

Commenting on the new line up, Ferzad Palia, Executive Vice President and Business Head, English entertainment, Viacom 18 said “This festive season on Comedy Central, we promise more fun, laughter and entertainment as we launch varied formats of entertainment. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will be a landmark series for Comedy Central with us airing the show about 24 hours from its original US telecast. Other shows that will be a part of our line up this festive season are Billy on the Street, Psych and Penn and Teller: Fool Us, all of which are extremely popular outside of India. We are certain that our viewers will enjoy the diverse content offered and hope that these shows are well received by our Indian audiences.”
