Doordarshan bestows commemoration to the 'Martyrs'
In order to pay homage to our martyrs who had made the ultimate sacrifice of laying down their lives for our country, Doordarshan Delhi, has conceptualized a programme ‘Smarananjali’ for telecast on Doordarshan National channels. This programme will be a humble effort to symbolize the nation’s tribute to martyrs and will help to renew our solidarity towards our brave soldiers and their families and help keep the deeds and bravery of our valiant soldiers in the memory of the nation.
“Smarananjali” is being planned in the form of a lyrical tribute by Artists on stage to martyrs in the presence of their families and the Minister of Defence and the Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air force and Chiefs of Paramilitary forces. Religious leaders from different religious groups will also be present to pay homage to the martyrs. It will be a specially woven tapestry of music, songs and dance that reflects the gravity of the sacrifice and will capture the sincere gratitude of the nation. Union Minister for Defence, Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Prakash Javadekar , the three Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy and Air force and Chiefs of the Paramilitary forces and other selected special guests will pay homage to the martyrs by lighting a candle before a replica of the Amar Jawan Jyoti and a soldier.
Three Param Vir Chakra Awardees will also be honored at the tribute event. They are Hony Capt Bana Singh (Retd), 8 JAK LI, Sub Yogender Singh Yadav, 18 Grenadiers and N/SUB Sanjay Kumar, 13 JAK RIF .
‘Smarananjali’ would pay tribute to the sacrifices made by martyrs’ who have laid down their life for our country . It will feature renowned artists like violin maestro L. Subramanium and renowned singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, Pankaj Udhas and Suresh Wadkar. These artistes are from Subramaniam Foundation, will join the Smarananjali programme and pay musical tribute to our martyrs. The musical tribute will be interlaced with specially choreographed dance performances of memorable patriotic songs by Ms. Manjula Parmesh and Group. An additional attraction is the on the spot painting by renowned painter, B.S. Verma and a dance by soldiers from the Madras Engineering Group(MEG) who will perform to the song “Ma Tujhe Salaam”.
The Ministry of Defence has appreciated the concept of the programme and is fully supporting Doordarshan’s efforts to organize the event. As 2014 is the 50th year of the Indo-Pak war of 1965, the tribute would be of special significance to the martyrs of the war.
