DTDC kicks off its 25 years milestone celebration

DTDC Courier & Cargo Ltd, India’s Largest Express Delivery Network, has entered into its 25th year of operations across the world and held a grand event in Bangalore to celebrate this feat. The yearlong celebrations kick started from Bangalore as DTDC had started its operations way back in 1990 from this very city.

In these 25 years, DTDC has shown tremendous commitment towards outstanding leadership and innovation for the development of the express network across the nation. Geopost group, a leading European Express Parcel Service provider is now a strategic partner with DTDC. Through this partnership, DTDC now has access to Geopost group’s international network and its most prominent operating brand DPD which covers the world’s major markets. The GeoPost Group consolidates the Express service subsidiaries of Le Groupe La Poste and is a major player in express services in Europe. It operates in over 230 countries on behalf of over 300,000 customers worldwide and is no.1 in France and no.2 at European level on the express parcel market.

DTDC has also taken on board IBM as an engagement partner as part of its 5 year end-to-end business transformation program which aims at streamlining operations and processes while leveraging technology.

To mark the beginning of the silver jubilee celebrations, DTDC has created its signature theme song 'Sapnon se Aage - The Supply Chain of Happiness Anthem' which has been sung by stalwarts of the music industry, Shankar and Siddharth Mahadevan. The music has been composed by Raghu Dixit and the lyrics have been penned by Ankur Tewari and DTDC’s Executive Director, Abhishek Chakraborty. The song captures the essence of breaking barriers and fearlessly reaching out to the last mile and is an inspiration for every individual to have a dream and dare to deliver it. The song celebrates DTDC's core philosophy of managing the logistics needed to help customers and stakeholders achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams, or in other words the 'Supply Chain of Happiness'. The video showcasing 25 years of DTDC’s journey was launched at the Grand Event held yesterday in honour of all the people who have been part of DTDC's 25 years journey.

Additionally, the celebrations also marked the launch of the new website www.25andbeyond.com - highlighting employee, partner and customer engagement programmes allowing the stakeholders to express themselves by participating in interesting contests like ‘DTDC’S Got Talent’.

To further augment the 25 year celebrations, DTDC flagged off a specially designed 18 seater fully branded vehicle which has travelled throughout the state of Karnataka to all the branches and franchisee offices located in the interiors. On its way to the offices in Belgaum and Hubli, the vehicle was accompanied by local folk dance troops and a huge procession of bikers, cars and buses that followed the DTDC branded vehicle to its respective destinations. Mr. Subhashish Chakraborty, Chairman and Managing Director, DTDC lead the procession which was succeeded by visits to local NGOs in both Belgaum & Hubli.

“A key part of the success of the DTDC network is the contribution of the people behind it. For 25 years, the employees and franchisees have dedicated themselves to helping our customers connect to the world. This is an amazing place to work, full of excitement and extraordinary challenges—no two days are the same. Today, more than 25,000 of our team members mark this milestone with a spirit of service and dedication, ensuring that celebrating 25 years is only the beginning”, said Mr. Subhasish Chakraborty on the occasion.

Speaking at the event attended by DTDC’s clients, business associates and staff, Abhishek Chakraborty, Executive Director, DTDC said “This is a significant milestone for the company and we are committed to provide the highest level of services to our customers. This has been possible because of the dedication, professionalism and passion that the employees and channel partners have for the brand. We look forward to creating many more such milestones on our way into the next 25 years!”.

Founded in 1990, DTDC established itself as a small business and quickly built a reputation of establishing the Largest Express Delivery Network with 25, 000 individuals as its strength and ability to deliver to the remotest places in India covering 10,000 (pin codes) in the domestic market and over 220 destinations internationally. As a part of DTDC’s mission to further consolidate its position in India, it launched its specialist logistics company for e-commerce - DotZot - 1st pan India delivery network with a reach of 8000 plus pin codes and 2300 cities focusing exclusively on the e-retail space in March 2013. With the advent of Dotzot, DTDC is all set to cater to the growing logistic demand of the e-commerce industry.

DTDC has not restricted its reach and scope of entrepreneurial opportunities to metro/district level alone but in rural areas also. They have introduced a special project entitled GICA (Greater India Channel Associates) to generate employment in rural India by providing extensive training on express industry, soft skills, entrepreneurial skills, marketing skills, and so on. These associates are provided with mentorship and finally appointed as Franchisees in the rural/satellite areas.  Under GICA, company is extending all infrastructural facilities at subsidized rates to rural youth. As a responsible corporate entity, DTDC also believes in compliance and contribution to the national exchequer by way of Income Tax and Service Tax payment, maintaining a clean record for several years.  In recognition of company's contribution in this direction, DTDC has been honoured with "Samman Patra" by the Dept. of Central Excise and Customs in Feb 2014.

DTDC practises a combination of both Philanthropy and Community Based Development, known as “Creating Shared Value” or CSV that has been established right from the inception of the company.

With the innate desire to carry out philanthropic activities in a more formal way as a part of CSV, DTDC has formed “Sri Subhasish Chakraborty Foundation” (SSCF) through which it supports a lot of noble causes in the areas of health, hygiene, environment, education, empowerment of women and children, and disaster relief.

Some of the key projects handled are as follows:

·         In 2013 the electrification of a remote tribal village Kanneri Colony in Karnataka in association with the Art of Living was undertaken. This is a first of its kind in the country, which is duly appreciated and approved by the Ministry of Energy. By installing permanent Solar Grid in Kanneri colony, solar electricity lighting facility has been provided to more than 200 unprivileged households.
·         Through another initiative “NaiDisha”, SSCF recognizes true potential and assists unemployed youth from lesser privileged society and under-developed areas by providing them job assured Professional certificate training courses, Personality Development and General Speaking courses.  NaiDisha has already helped 120 unemployed youth to complete the training course and all of them have been employed now in DTDC network and other organizations.
·         In association with “World Vision India”, SSCF has been sponsoring children for their School education.
·         In association with “Round Table India”, DTDC has built class rooms and sanitary facilities in primary schools in the rural areas of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
