TV This Week| Life OK back to No.3 position, Sony Max leads Hindi movie category

Retaining the top position is Star Plus, followed by Zee TV on the second spot. After a setback last week, Life OK bounces back to bag No.3 position again; followed by Colors, Sony Entertainment Television and SAB TV.

This week’s rating charts are bound to bring mixed reactions for both Hindi GECs and movie channels. Of the GEC’s, SET is singled out as the only one registering decline in viewership; the other channels show growth in viewership numbers.

As per viewership data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 29, 2014 (13th July - 19th July) for CS 4+, HSM MARKETS, detailed below is the data of the top 6 GEC’s performance in week 29 along with previous week’s figures enlisted in the brackets:

Star Plus showed growth in viewership and recorded 711977 million GVTs (gross TV viewership in million) as against 673330 million GVTs recorded last week.

Zee TV at 2nd position too showed growth in viewership of 436478 million GVTs as against 424522.

Regaining the third place, Life OK recorded growth of 361347 million GVTs as compared to 324996 last week.

Colors slipped the ladder to No.4 position but showed growth in viewership with 347095million GVT’s against 342279 last week.

SET was the only GEC to registered decline this week and recorded 270480 million GVTs as against 279384 in the last week. While the channel was betting big on the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Yudh to scale up the channel on the rating charts, numbers collected have a different story to say. In its opening week, Yudh clocked an average of 1199 TVTs, which is as low as the show it replaced – Balaji’s Bade Achche Lagte Hai in the same time slot. Though BALH was pushed to the 11.00 pm, the show however, recorded better numbers than Yudh’s opening week numbers. However, industry sentiment suggest that though it’s a slow start for Yudh, they expect the magic of Sr. Bachchan to work for his maiden fiction attempt and the channel as well.

SAB TV’s viewership too showed growth 267631 million GVTs against 248304 million GVTs last week.

New entrant in the GEC game, Zee’s Zindagi got off to passive start by registering 29 million GVM in its third week, while it clocked 27 million in the previous week.

Following is the market-wise program performance of Hindi Movie channels in Week 29 2014:
Sony Max tops the chart and has registered growth of 198478 GVTs against recorded 168112 last week; Zee Cinema is at No. 2 showed growth in viewership of 195356 GVT’s as against 188384 GVTs last week.

&pictures viewership too showed growth this week as recorded  91350 GVT’s compared to 80612 GVTs last week; UTV Movies recorded  decline of 75453 GVT’s as compare to 81683 GVTs last week. Star GOLD garnered 182651 GVT’s as compare to  169288 GVTs last week, Movies OK showed growth of  GVT’s 140784 as compare to 134134 GVT’s last week.
