Asia Pacific leads the way in sustainable hotel spending: YouGov

A new study by YouGov reveals a strong preference for eco-friendly hotels in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Here are the key takeaways:

Willing to pay more: 55% of APAC consumers are willing to spend more for a sustainable hotel stay compared to only 41% in EMEA and 38% in AMERS.

Top spenders: Consumers in the UAE (73%), India (69%), Indonesia (61%), and Hong Kong (61%) are most likely to pay a premium for eco-friendly stays.

Green preference: A significant portion of APAC consumers (27%) are comfortable paying a 10% green premium, compared to 23% in EMEA and

20% in AMERS. Notably, nearly half (48%) of UAE consumers and almost half (49%) of Indian consumers would pay over 10% more.

Sustainability matters: A separate report by Delta Global shows 92% of APAC luxury consumers prioritize sustainability, with Gen Z leading the way (75% willing to pay more).

This trend highlights a growing emphasis on environmental responsibility in the APAC hospitality sector. Hotels prioritizing sustainable practices can attract a significant and loyal customer base in this region.
