Love Sex aur Dhokha 2: A disappointing sequel

An experimental movie is always a risk. It might work fabulously or just crash completely. Dibakar Banerjee's last LSD (Love Sex aur Dhokha being the full form) belonged to the first category. The sequel, arrived fourteen years too late, is sadly a torturous endurance even at less than the two hours run time.

Dibakar, whose Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) ranks amongst my most favorite, goes horribly wrong with his new Love Sex aur Dhokha. Sorry to say, there is no love here, the sex is totally cringe and the dhokha is on the audience this time!!

Like the first part, this film is an anthology of three stories connected through its basic theme of social media frenzy and the gen z bunch of meta-verse influencers.

The first 'kahaani' being the best of three, revolves around a transgender called Noor (Paritosh Tiwari), who is struggling to stay afloat in a Bigg Boss styled show titled Truth Ya Naach. The show's hosts include Anu Malik, Tusshar Kapoor and Sophie Chowdhry alongside Mouni Roy, who is mostly seen alighting from a chopper. Dunno why!!

The second plot is about a lady (Swastika Mukherjee), a metro station vendor providing transgender janitors as a social service. One of her workers gets raped on duty (or outside of it??!!) and a lot of unpleasant secrets tumble out in bargain...

The third segment is about a school going dude, who moonlights as a gaming influencer and gets framed in a below the belt deep fake case. Truly, this is the worst and most confusing part of the movie and the climactic revelation may probably appeal to Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk only. Ordinary mortals like you and me won't understand it. A total bouncer!!

Of the performances, Paritosh playing Noor is awesome while Swastika as the grey shaded Lovina, has her moments. The rest of the cast is sadly unimpressive. Just like the film itself!!
