LS polls: MCD takes down more than half a million political ads

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi took down more than half a million political ads in the city. These ads, which included hoardings, posters, banners, wall paintings, signages, and flags, were removed from various public spaces across the city's 12 zones.
The removal was in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) that comes into effect when elections are announced, aiming to restrict political advertising. The 12 zones of MCD where the advertisements were removed are Rohini Zone, City SP Zone, Civil Lines Zone, Karol Bagh Zone, Narela Zone, Keshavpurm Zone, South Zone, West Zone, Najafgarh Zone, Central Zone, Shahadara North Zone, and Shahadara South Zone.
With Delhi set to vote on May 25 in the sixth phase of the seven-phase polls, the MCD's action aligns with the regulations. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4. According to an official document released earlier this week, the MCD removed a total of 257,280 hoardings, 192,601 banners or wall paintings and posters, 40,022 removable signages, and 30,139 removable flags.
