Netflix tests gaming on more devices

Netflix has announced that it is making games playable on every device where its members enjoy Netflix — TVs, computers, and mobile. The streaming giant is set to initiate a limited beta test among a select group of members in Canada and the UK, focusing on specific television models, effective immediately. In the subsequent weeks, the beta test will be extended to PCs and Macs via Netflix.com, utilizing supported browsers.

The inaugural phase of this testing initiative will feature two captivating games: "Oxenfree" from Night School Studio, a prominent member of the Netflix Game Studio, and "Molehew’s Mining Adventure," an engaging gem-mining arcade game. The gaming experience on televisions will be revolutionized by leveraging a tool already integral to members' daily lives — their smartphones. On PCs and Macs, gaming enthusiasts can immerse themselves using a keyboard and mouse, directly on Netflix.com.

"This limited beta is meant to test our game streaming technology and controller, and to improve the member experience over time. Games on TV will operate on select devices from our initial partners including: Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, and Walmart ONN. Additional devices will be added on an ongoing basis," said Mike Verdu, VP, Games, Netflix.
