Amul has surpassed milk sales of Mother Dairy in Delhi; latter disagrees!

Amul, recently, stated that it has surpassed milk sales of Mother Dairy in Delhi in branded packaged segment. However, Mother Dairy has refused the claim.

Amul - is a brand from Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF) which distributes its products within India and export it to lots of international markets. Mother Dairy - it is a part of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

As per media reports, Paul Thachil, CEO, Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable on Amul's claim said, "Mother Dairy's current sale is approximately 28 lakh litre per day, which is about twice as much as that of the nearest competitor (Amul). We will enhance our milk sales volume to 3 million litre per day. This will strengthen our leadership in the branded milk segment in the region."

On the other hand, BM Vyas, MD, GCMMF said, "Amul's 15-lakh litres a day figure had taken into account only branded, packaged milk and not loose milk in Delhi-NCR. Unlike competition, which is combining loose and packaged milk in its numbers, we are only talking of packaged, branded milk."

Incidentally, Amul is selling milk at price which is Rs 2 per litre higher than Mother Dairy for full cream milk and Re 1 per litre more than Mother Dairy in Toned milk segment.
